A.D.A.P.T. Jazz/Tap - Head of Jazz
Tenetia grew up as a competitive dancer in Southern California. She has had extensive
training in ballet, jazz, lyrical/contemporary, modern and tap, and has trained with acclaimed
teachers such as Mandy Moore (SYTYCD), Kim Borgaro (OTE), Ray Leeper (NUVO), John
Crutchman (WCDE), Henry LeTang, Doug Caldwell and Robert Duran, to name a few. Her
performing/professional credits include; EFX starring Tommy Tune at the MGM Grand (Dancer);
STORM at the Mandalay Bay under the direction of Jamie King (Madonna, Brittney Spears),Melissa Williams and Carla Kama (Dancer) Holland America Cruise Line (dancer/singer, dance captain)
Stiletto Entertainment under the direction of Gary Kief (Barry Manilow) (Asst. choreographer/
Casting Asst.)Industrial shows and conventions, including Paul Mitchell and BeBe (dancer/model)
MGM theme park in Las Vegas (Dancer, dance captain). Tenetia has been teaching for 20+ years across the USA and Canada. She is known for
her attention to detail and clean, precise movement. Her choreography has won numerous overall standings, special awards and choreography awards. Her former students can be seen performing all over the world in New York, Branson, Disney, on cruise ships, national
commercials and music videos. Tenetia spends her free time with her husband and three children. She continues to educate herself in the dance industry so that she can provide new and innovative techniques to herstudents while keeping them safe and excited to learn. She takes pride in teaching from a mother’s point of view and strives to teach with a fair and kind approach resulting in dancers who are not only artists but also good humans. 2019/2020 marks her 8th season with CCD, whom has become her second family. She is incredibly proud of her former and current students, and is excited to work with CCD for many years to come.
RAD - Head of Ballet
Delrina began dancing at the age of 3 and has been classically trained in The Royal Academy of
Dance (R.A.D) syllabus for ballet, and the Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers
(A.D.A.P.T) syllabus for jazz and tap. She has completed all dance exam levels in ballet
(R.A.D) obtaining her Advance 1, and obtaining her Intermediate 3 in both jazz and tap
Delrina is an accomplished and awarded dancer, teacher, and choreographer. She is also a
certified dance teacher with the Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers (A.D.A.P.T)
syllabus in jazz and tap. She regularly attends conventions, workshops, and classes to maintain
and continue her teaching and choreographing skills.
Delrina has performed in music videos, theatre productions, dance companies, showcases and
dance competitions all over Canada. She has been and continues to be a guest choreographer in
post-secondary schools to aid in the development and competiveness of their specialized arts
programs. Delrina’s enthusiastic personality and positive approach to teaching motivates and
encourages all of her students as they grow and learn through the art of dance.
Deanna has trained extensively in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Contemporary and Acro. She is a certified RAD Ballet, ADAPT Jazz and Tap and ADTA Acro Teacher. She has completed her Advanced 2 and Grade 8 Ballet Examination (RAD) and Pre-Advanced Jazz and Tap Examinations (ADAPT). Deanna is also currently working towards her Benesh Movement Notation certification through the RAD. Deanna has taught at various studios and schools in Ottawa, providing exceptional dance training to students of all ages and abilities. She is a faculty member at St. Lawrence College in the Musical Theatre department, teaching ballet, tap and jazz. Deanna has travelled to New Hampshire and Arizona to teach summer intensive programs. Her choreography at dance competitions has received various high score and special awards. She has received numerous personal awards at competitions across North America, including Miss Teen CanDance, Footloose Dancer of the Year and ADA Dancer of the Year. Over the course of her training she has performed with Ballet Jorgens The Nutcracker and was a member of the CFL Ottawa Renegades Dance Team. Dance is a passion, which Deanna loves to share with aspiring students in an encouraging and educational way!
A.D.A.P.T. certified, OCT
Miss Kim has been dancing since the age of 2.5 and competed across Canada and the United States beginning at the age of 7 and has completed her ADAPT exam levels as a dancer in both Jazz & Tap. She has been teaching for the past 14 years both recreationally and competitively, and has recently sold her dance studio after 11 years. Miss Kim has also attended the TTS program completing her ADAPT teaching certification for both Jazz & Tap for beginner to advanced levels and has trained many students over the years in successfully completing their ADAPT exams, many of who have also received the medal of merit at various levels. Over the years, Miss Kim's students have competed successfully at both the Regional and National levels.
Miss Kim has also done some extra work on various movies and tv shows. She is also a certified School teacher. Miss Kim is very passionate about dance and teaching and enjoys sharing her passion for dance with her students.
Suzie Luton Cavanaugh
Suzie is a ballet teacher here at Capital City Dance. She began as a student with us in 2009 and was a part of the competitive team until 2015. In addition to this, she has completed her grade 8 examination with the Royal academy of dance and placed first in her class, she has also completed her advanced foundations examination with the Royal Academy of dance. As a student she spent summers in the competitive program as well at intensives such as the Royal Academy of Dance intensive in the UK. She began her teaching career as an assistant and
has now been teaching for 3 years.
